About Us

Mesa Vista School is located in Oroville in Thermalito and is a part of Butte County Office of Education.  Mesa Vista houses 3 classroom programs, itinerant staff offices and is the headquarters for Special Education Services through BCOE. 
 
The administration team at Mesa Vista provides support and supervision for BCOE programs throughout Butte County.  BCOE Special Education programs serve students ages birth through 22 years and provide many services including:

  • Visual Impairment Education Services
  • Orientation & Mobility Education
  • Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services

The privacy of our staff and students is of the utmost importance and BCOE is using due diligence with all recommended digital resources used for distance learning opportunities. As such,BCOE is working alongside our Information Technology Services and Educational Technology departments to ensure the proper utilization of on-line learning platforms, such as Zoom, Google Meet, Google Classroom, etc. All recommended resources are listed by the California Department of Education as online engagement platforms and best practices/guidelines from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as coordinated efforts with other IT Departments from around the state. Prior to staff using an online platform, staff are required to follow the best practice guidelines for the product to safeguard student and staff privacy.
